Following the incessant insecurity in the country, a Church in Adamawa State identified as the Ekklesiyar Yan’Uwa a Nigeria (EYN), has lamented that Nigeria is dilapidating fast because past and present national leaders have not been doing enough to ensure progress.
The church says President Muhammadu Buhari has allowed the country to sink badly by growing a thick skin to public outcries.
President of the EYN, Rev Joel Billi who spoke on Thursday at a meeting of leaders of the church in Kwarhi, Adamawa, said prayer is the only solution to saving Nigeria.
Billi lamented that “Nigeria is dilapidating every day, with no sign of hope at all.”
He added, “Former and current leaders allowed things to slip off their fingers because of their selfishness. They always stand aloof from the masses because they can afford overseas treatment and can sponsor their children to schools abroad.”
The EYN president said, “President Muhammadu Buhari has grown a thick skin to the cries and counsel of Nigerians.”
Lending the church’s voice to calls on Buhari to resign, Rev Joel Billi said nothing has improved since last year November when Northern elders asked Buhari to resign if he could not curb insurgency, banditry, rustling and kidnapping.
Suggesting a way forward, the EYN president urged the Presidency and the Nigerian public to be nationalistic in solving national challenges.
“We must face the truth and stop the hide and seek game. We must fish out all those causing us these troubles instead of protecting them in the name of ethnicity, region and religion, ” he said.
