In a significant security operation, Nigerian Army troops have successfully neutralized nine terrorists in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The clash occurred in the Kampani Doka and Rifigoro communities, where the Army engaged with the terrorists in a fierce gun battle.
An Army statement detailed that the confrontation began when the terrorists fired upon the troops, leading to a protracted firefight. The soldiers’ superior firepower led to the elimination of seven terrorists during the initial clash. Subsequent operations in Gayam village resulted in the death of a notorious insurgent leader and the wounding of some of his associates, who fled the scene, leaving behind their weapons and equipment.
The Army recovered a substantial cache of arms and equipment from the operation, including:
– Three AK-47 rifles
– Eight AK-47 magazines (four fully loaded with 120 rounds of 7.62mm Special)
– A magazine carrier
– Six motorcycles
– Three mobile phones
– Two Baofeng communication radios
– Three pairs of civil clothes
– A PKT machine gun with eight rounds of ammunition
– An additional Baofeng radio
– Various communication devices
– One SMF magazine
– Fourteen mobile SIM cards
These successes are considered a major step towards enhancing peace and stability in the region. The Nigerian Army has urged the public to continue supporting their efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of all citizens.
