Kola Ologbondiyan, a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has asserted that the North Central region is set to produce the party’s next national chairman. He emphasized that no other region is eligible to assume this position under the party’s constitution.
Ologbondiyan made these remarks during a meeting with PDP youths from the North Central region in Abuja over the weekend. He referenced Section 47(6) of the PDP Constitution, stating its provisions are clear and must be adhered to.
“It is well-known that party members and stakeholders across the six geo-political zones, particularly in the North East states such as Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Adamawa, and Borno, support the selection of a successor from the North Central to replace Senator Ayu. The zone is already refining its processes to achieve this goal,” he explained.
He urged party members to disregard the actions of certain individuals who are misinterpreting the party’s constitution to serve their personal agendas.
“The foundation of the PDP is its Constitution (2017 as Amended), not the whims of any individual, regardless of their position,” Ologbondiyan stated. He warned that any attempt to undermine the implementation of Section 47(6) of the PDP Constitution would lead to discord within the party.
“The North Central will produce a successor to Senator Ayu, not any other zone. Those trying to obstruct the constitutional process are not acting in the best interest of our party,” he concluded.
