In a bid to improve Technical Education in Ogun State especially in the area of qualified Technical Instructors, the old students association of Government, Science and Technical College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta have shown their willingness to collaborate with the State Government to achieve great results.
This was made known during a courtesy visit paid by the old students association of Government, Science and Technical College , , Idi-Aba Abeokuta, to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa at his Oke-Mosan office.
Leading the team, the president of the Old Students Association, Government, Science and Technical College, Idi-Aba, Alhaji Surajudeen Fagbayi, who is an Electrical Technologist, appreciated the present administration for determining to put Technical Education at its right place in the State.
He commended His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun for putting the right peg in the right hole in the appointment of prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa as Special Adviser on Technical education,saying that
It was the first of its kind since the inception of the State.
Alh. Fagbayi suggested that Craftsmen from outside the colleges should be invited on each trade to get the students exposed to the needed practicals, noting that it would help them to be more focused on he trade, which would project the image of technical education.
Earlier in his speech, Special Adviser on Technical education Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, stated that their request was in line with the Government, assuring them that additional technical instructors would be deployed cross the colleges soon.
Odemuyiwa commended the executive members of the old students association for resolving to collaborate with the State Government in developing Technical Education, stating that the glory of Technical Colleges must not drop.
