The Osun State Government has instructed all public and private schools within the state to start reciting “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” the former national anthem recently reinstated by President Bola Tinubu.
This directive was detailed in a release signed by Murtala Jimoh, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, and obtained in Osogbo on Friday.
President Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill into law on Wednesday, reintroducing the old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
Jimoh’s statement mandated that all schools in Osun State commence reciting the restored anthem during their morning assemblies. The Permanent Secretary emphasized the importance of compliance, urging all school heads to ensure their students learn and begin singing the anthem immediately.
The release stated, “The Federal Government has recently approved a new National Anthem for the country. Therefore, it is crucial for schools across Osun State to adhere to this directive. All heads of schools, both public and private, should ensure compliance in their institutions. It is expected that the restored anthem be sung during morning assemblies as a matter of duty.”
