A two-storey building on Amusu Street in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos State collapsed early Monday morning. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Mr. Nosa Okunbor, Head of the Public Affairs Unit at the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed that the building collapsed at approximately 8:45 AM due to structural failure.
Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched for a search and rescue operation. Okunbor stated that the building had been evacuated prior to the collapse, which prevented any injuries.
This incident comes in the wake of other building collapses in Lagos, including a four-story building in May and another collapse in July, where residents narrowly escaped injury.
