The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has approved Wale Adedayo, the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, to participate in the party’s primaries for chairmanship candidates. The primaries are set to take place on Saturday.
Party Publicity Secretary Afolabi Orekoya announced on Wednesday that numerous aspirants from the 236 Wards and 20 Local Governments in Ogun State have obtained nomination forms and undergone screening to qualify for the upcoming Local Government Elections in November.
Among those screened at the Party Secretariat in Abeokuta was Chief Wale Adedayo, who aims to reclaim his former position as Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government.
Orekoya highlighted that the party has scheduled Thursday, September 5th, and Saturday, September 7th, for the Councillorship and Chairmanship Primary Elections across the 236 Wards and 20 LGs.
He urged party members to participate peacefully in the primaries to elect their preferred candidates.
Adedayo, who transitioned from journalism to politics, previously served as Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government under the All Progressives Congress (APC). His tenure ended in August 2023 when he was impeached following his allegations of misappropriation of ₦10.8 billion in local government funds against Governor Dapo Abiodun. The state government has strongly denied these allegations.
