The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the timetable for the Edo State governorship election, along with the nomination fees for aspirants. The schedule of activities, released after a joint meeting of the Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, was signed by the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature.
According to the timetable, aspirants interested in vying for the governorship position will be required to obtain the nomination form for N21 million. However, there is a 50 percent discount on the nomination form fees for youths aged between 25 and 30.
Key dates in the timetable include the registration of old and new members from November 16 to December 7. The party congress, where the governorship candidate will be chosen, is scheduled for February 22, 2024.
Other important dates include the last date for the submission of the ward register to the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation on December 14. A stakeholders’ consultative meeting with the National Working Group is set for December 19-20.
The sale of expression of interest and ad-hoc forms for all offices will take place from January 10 to 16, with the last day for the submission of completed forms being January 17. The screening of aspirants by the National Working Committee is slated for January 18, 2024.
Sales of the nomination forms for aspirants who completed and submitted their expression of interest forms will take place from January 19 to 25. The last date for the submission of the completed nomination forms is January 27.
The governorship primary is scheduled for February 22, with the appeal on the governorship primary set for February 24. The released timetable outlines a series of activities leading up to the Edo governorship election, providing a structured framework for the party’s internal processes.
