Kano State Police Command has successfully pinpointed six individuals believed to have participated in a protest where provocative slogans were chanted against the Emir of Kano.
During a recent event at the Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital located behind the palace, the youth demonstrators gathered and chanted offensive slogans and insults in the presence of the Emir and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The Commissioner of Police for the state, Mr. Mohammed Usaini Gumel, revealed this development while addressing the press at the Kano Press Centre.
The protesters were demanding the replacement of the Emir, calling for a “new governor, new emir.”
Utilizing cutting-edge technology, the state Police Commissioner identified the individuals involved and exposed those responsible for instigating the protest.
“These individuals were not invited to the event. They were intruders who appeared on their own accord and were likely backed by an individual or group. We have identified six individuals through technological means and are in the process of arresting them. Efforts are also being made to apprehend those who sponsored them,” he explained.
Mr. Gumel emphasized the significance of upholding the traditional institution and condemned any attempts to undermine it, stating that those who disrespect it are adversaries of the community.
Regarding his initial hundred days in office, Commissioner Gumel disclosed that approximately 100 criminals who had chosen to reform surrendered themselves along with their weapons to the police since he assumed the role of state commissioner of police.
He explained that most of the unrepentant criminals had fled the state, while the reformed ones were aiding the police in locating their counterparts who were still in hiding.
“In fact, we initiated a search for three notorious criminals and placed bounties of N100,000 on each of their heads. One of these criminals voluntarily presented himself at the police headquarters. He stated that he didn’t want me to waste my N100,000, explaining his desire to break away from criminal activities and become a responsible citizen. We have placed him under observation, and he is now collaborating with the police to track down other criminals. We are actively working to apprehend the remaining two individuals. Rest assured, we will arrest them and present them to the public,” the commissioner assured.
These developments underscore the commitment of the Kano State Police Command to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and tranquility of the region.
