President Muhammadu Buhari, retired the acting Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. Isah Jere Idris, whose tenure automatically comes to an end on 24th April, 2023.
The letter to this effect, dated 17th April 2023, was signed by the secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, Obasi Edozie Edmond, on the orders of the Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who is also the board chairman.
Mr. Jere was appointed the acting Comptroller General before his retirement in April 2022 but got his tenure for one ahead of its expiration.
By retirement, Jere is required to hand over the duties and responsibilities of his office to the most senior officer in the Service, pending the appointment of a substantive Comptroller General of Immigration.
