Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is at the center of a transfer saga, with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) reportedly ready to make an astounding offer of €50 million (equivalent to N43 billion) for his services, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.
The owner of his current club, Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, anticipates a million-dollar bid for Osimhen, with PSG being the only club deemed capable of affording the talented Nigeria international. Other top clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich have withdrawn from negotiations due to De Laurentiis’ high valuation of the player.
Reports indicate that Napoli values Osimhen at an eye-watering €150 million, a price that no other club has been willing to meet thus far. De Laurentiis admitted that PSG could be the only realistic destination for Osimhen, especially if they decide to offload French superstar Kylian Mbappe, who has been linked with a staggering €300 million move to Al-Hilal.
In the event of Mbappe’s departure, Osimhen has been seen as the ideal replacement. However, despite the lure of potentially becoming the star of the Napoli team with a €50 million salary, Osimhen appears reluctant to make a move to the French Ligue 1.
Last season, Osimhen’s impressive performance played a crucial role in Napoli winning the Serie A title after a gap of over three decades. He even made history by becoming the first African to be awarded the prestigious Capocannoniere, given to the top scorer in Serie A, after netting 26 goals and providing five assists in 32 league appearances.
As the transfer window unfolds, football fans will be eagerly awaiting further developments in the Osimhen transfer saga and whether he will ultimately find himself donning the colors of PSG or remaining with Napoli.
