According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Paris Saint-Germain is preparing a second bid of €120m for Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian forward. PSG had their initial offer of €100m rejected in June. While the new bid is lower than Napoli’s valuation, it surpasses offers from other interested clubs.
Napoli values Osimhen at €150m, a price that no other club is currently willing to meet. Napoli’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, believes PSG is the only team capable of affording the striker and has dismissed other suitors like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, despite their interest.
De Laurentiis revealed to Mediaset, “The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain. If (PSG president) Nasser Al Khelaifi wants to send in a bid around €200 million, we wait and see what happens. I personally think that Victor will stay here.”
Meanwhile, negotiations between Osimhen and Napoli for a contract extension are underway, according to Calciomercato. The club aims to introduce a release clause that would become valid in the summer of 2024 for a fee exceeding €100m.
De Laurentiis told Osimhen’s agent that he would only consider offers close to €200m in this summer’s transfer window. Despite the differences in negotiations, Napoli remains determined to please their star player with a suitable contract.
Bayern Munich has shown interest in Osimhen but has halted negotiations due to Napoli’s high economic demands. Currently, PSG poses the biggest obstacle for Napoli as they see Osimhen as the ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappé, the World Cup winner.
French sources indicate that PSG is on the verge of submitting an offer of around €120m.
Osimhen had an impressive performance last season, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 32 league appearances, helping Napoli clinch the Serie A title after over three decades. He also became the first African player to win the prestigious Capocannoniere award, given to the top scorer in Serie A.
Osimhen is scheduled to resume pre-season training on July 19, eagerly awaiting the developments regarding his future.
