Sergio Aguero, the Manchester City legend known for his illustrious football career, may have conquered the pitch, but his romantic life has been less fortunate. Aguero, whose football journey reached a pinnacle with Manchester City and came close to doing the same at FC Barcelona before heart issues halted his career in the 2021-2022 season, has now experienced five high-profile breakups.
The 35-year-old Argentine football icon, who now operates a Twitch channel, recently announced via his channel that he has parted ways with Sofia Calzetti, marking his fifth failed celebrity relationship. Sofia Calzetti, in fact, enjoyed one of the longest stints with Aguero, dating him for four years before their recent breakup.
Sofia stood by Aguero’s side during his battle with a heart condition in 2021, which ultimately led to his retirement from professional football shortly after joining Barcelona from Manchester City.
However, reports suggest that Sergio Aguero decided to end the relationship with Sofia after allegedly witnessing her sharing a kiss with another man in a nightclub.
Before Sofia Calzetti, Sergio Aguero’s romantic history included a marriage to Giannina, the daughter of the late Diego Maradona, in 2008. They welcomed a son, Benjamin, in 2009 but ended their marriage three years later.
Afterward, Aguero dated Argentine celebrity musician Karina Tejeda, but their relationship was short-lived. In 2018, he briefly dated Instagram star Zoe Cristofoli, and the relationship ended the following year.
In 2019, the retired Argentine striker ventured into a love affair with Reality TV star Taylor Ward, but this relationship also fizzled out in the same year. Ward later went on to marry Aguero’s former teammate at Manchester City, Riyad Mahrez, who now plays for the Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli.
Many of Sergio Aguero’s fans hoped that Sofia Calzetti, whom he began dating in 2019, would be the final stop in his rollercoaster of relationships. However, that did not turn out to be the case.
Responding to Aguero’s claims in an interview with Argentine journalist Angelo di Brito, Sofia Calzetti confirmed their breakup. She denied Aguero’s accusation of her kissing another man in a nightclub and emphasized that the reasons for their separation were private matters.
“Many things are said that are not true,” Sofia Calzetti was quoted as saying. “Everything is fine, we have good dialogue, but a lot of nonsense is said. I am not in a relationship. He [Aguero] is a person whom I love very much, and I have a lot of respect for him. The causes of the separation are between us, relationship problems. I saw something, I went out with friends to dance, and we were having fun. Nothing more. There is no kiss.”
