A devastating accident on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway claimed the lives of six individuals after a collision between a truck and a Toyota Sienna. The incident occurred at Verony, Ogere, at around 7:40 a.m. on Friday morning.
According to a statement released by Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, the crash was caused by excessive speed. The Toyota Sienna, marked EPE, reportedly rammed into the rear of a moving truck.
The accident involved a total of nine people—two men and seven women. Tragically, six of them lost their lives, including two men and four women. The three surviving victims, all women, sustained injuries and were promptly taken to Patmag Hospital in Ogere for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were transported to the FOS morgue in Ipara.
The Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, commented on the tragic event, describing it as an avoidable accident that could have been prevented if the driver had exercised proper caution. He urged all motorists to prioritize safety, adhere strictly to traffic rules, and maintain full concentration while driving to prevent such avoidable tragedies in the future.
