Seven months after Ibrahim Magu was suspended as acting Chairman of the EFCC by the current administration amidst allegations of gross misconduct, President Muhammadu Buhari, has nominated Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as the new chairman of commission.
Here are however few facts about the newly nominated chairman
Abdulrasheeed Bawa is a 40 year-old trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance Fee Fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes.
He has undergone several specialized pieces of training in different parts of the world and was one of the pioneer EFCC Cadet Officers in 2005.
Bawa holds a B.Sc degree in Economics, and Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy.
Bawa, is one of the pioneer EFCC cadet officers from 2005. He is a currently the Lagos zonal head of the anti-graft agency.
He will be taking over from Mohammed Umar, who has been in acting capacity since July 2020, after the suspension of Ibrahim Magu over allegations of corruption.
He is the chief investigator in the alleged multi-billion naira fraud case against former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
