Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro is facing concerns about the fitness of another left-back ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Porto’s Zaidu Sanusi is already confirmed to be unavailable for both games as he recovers from a left thigh muscle injury sustained in September. Additionally, Bruno Onyemaechi, another Portuguese-based left-back, missed Boavista’s recent match against Sporting CP due to muscle problems.
Onyemaechi has been a significant player for the Super Eagles, earning call-ups for most games since November 2022. He is also a key player for Boavista, starting in seven of their nine league games this season.
Peseiro now faces concerns about his left-back options as the team prepares for the upcoming qualifiers. The availability of both Sanusi and Onyemaechi will be crucial for the Super Eagles’ defensive setup.
