Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has joined Spanish La Liga giants Sevilla on a free transfer. The former Leicester City player signed a two-year contract with Sevilla after leaving the newly promoted Premier League club.
The 27-year-old completed his medical examination on Tuesday and finalized the transfer on Wednesday. Iheanacho’s move marks Sevilla’s fifth major signing of the summer, following the acquisitions of Chidera Ejuke, Peque, Saúl, and Lokonga.
Iheanacho brings a wealth of experience to Sevilla, having played for Manchester City and Leicester City. At Leicester, he made 232 appearances across various competitions, scoring 61 goals and providing 34 assists. He also featured in 19 European matches, participating in both the Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
Internationally, Iheanacho has represented Nigeria in 55 matches, scoring 19 goals. He played a key role in Nigeria’s victory at the Under-17 World Cup in 2015, where he won the Golden Ball award as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Sevilla’s decision to sign Iheanacho is seen as a strategic move to strengthen their attacking options, especially following the departure of En-Nesyri.
