Delta State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old teenager named Sunday Ebube Linus for raising a false alarm about the disappearance of his manhood (penis). The Police Public Relations Officer for the state Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest and cautioned the public against resorting to jungle justice to punish offenders.
According to the police spokesperson, the incident occurred on October 8, 2023, when Linus raised a false alarm in Asaba, Delta State, claiming that an old woman inside a tricycle had touched him, causing his manhood to disappear. This false claim led to over 100 people gathering and attacking the woman, stripping her naked, and subjecting her to a severe beating.
Upon being notified, the police intervened as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for GRA division in Asaba led officers to the scene, rescued the woman, and apprehended the suspect. It was subsequently discovered that there was nothing wrong with Linus, and his manhood was intact.
The PPRO emphasized that Linus had falsely accused the woman, leading to a violent attack on her, and videos of the incident spread across the internet.
He questioned the logic behind such actions, asking, “Does this make any sense? Why embark on self-help? Why jungle justice?”
The police are now actively seeking individuals seen in the video to be arrested and prosecuted alongside Linus, the initial suspect.
