The Lagos State Government has officially declared a temporary three-day closure of the entrance to CMD Road and the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway. The announcement was made through a statement released on Tuesday via LASG’s official Instagram page. The purpose behind these closures is to facilitate the laying of the final wearing course by contractors. This process is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
According to the statement, this decision aligns with the ongoing Lagos-Ibadan Expressway project undertaken by the Federal Government. Specifically, the entrance into CMD Road and the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway will be subject to temporary closure.
The CMD entrance is expected to be inaccessible for three days, starting from Wednesday, August 9, 2023. This period is designated for the laying of the final wearing course. Likewise, the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora, located on the Shagamu bound carriageway near the pedestrian Bridge at Berger bus stop, will undergo a three-day closure starting from Thursday, August 10, 2023. Preparatory work for this closure will commence on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, with the aim of reconstructing the remaining portion of the outer lane of the carriageway.
During this construction phase, a traffic management plan has been devised to guide motorists. From Thursday, August 10, 2023, onwards, motorists traveling from the expressway en-route CMD Road will be directed towards alternative routes. These include:
i. Motorists coming from Ojota Interchange will take the route via the access road after the FMW weighbridge to reach CMD Road.
ii. Motorists on Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo will connect to CMD Road through the area near Otedola Estate.
iii. Motorists who are bound for Isheri-Olowora and intend to exit the expressway via the access before the Pedestrian Bridge at Berger bus stop are advised to utilize the subsequent exit near New Garage, which leads to Isheri-Olowora.
The statement also urges motorists to collaborate with the Traffic Management Personnel deployed to guide them effectively to their desired destinations during this period of construction.
