In a horrifying incident on Sunday night, terrorists targeted the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving five people dead and a dozen others injured. The attackers, numbering several, reportedly stormed the town around 10 pm, opening fire indiscriminately.
Residents, who wished to remain anonymous, reported that the terrorists initially attacked from the outskirts where security operatives and vigilantes were present. However, they gradually moved deeper into the town, intensifying their assault. The presence and quick response of security operatives and vigilantes prevented even greater casualties, according to witnesses.
During the attack, five residents were abducted, adding to the sense of fear and insecurity among the community members. The incident has left the town in shock and mourning, emphasizing the ongoing threat posed by terrorism in the region.
As the community grapples with this tragic event, security operatives and vigilantes have increased patrols to maintain calm in the area. The Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, has confirmed the incident, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and security efforts to protect vulnerable communities from such heinous attacks.
