Timi Frank released a statement on Tuesday in which he criticized Nyesom Wike for allegedly orchestrating a plan to impeach Rivers State Governor, Siminilaye Fubara. Frank condemned the reported use of tear gas and water cannons on the governor during the incident.
Frank asserted that Wike is causing harm to Bola Tinubu’s administration by demolishing houses and revoking property ownership in Abuja. He suggested that Wike’s actions are intended to tarnish the image of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and portray the government as oppressive.
Frank further speculated that Wike’s ultimate goal is to weaken the APC and position himself for a presidential run in 2027 under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Frank claimed that Fubara became a target for Wike due to his refusal to follow Wike’s directives, as Wike allegedly seeks control over the state’s finances.
He urged Tinubu and the APC to address Wike’s actions, warning that failure to do so could have consequences for the government. Frank also called on governors from various political parties to support their Rivers State counterpart in countering what he sees as Wike’s autocratic behavior and political influence in the state.
Frank encouraged Fubara to stand firm and resist Wike’s alleged manipulation, expressing confidence that justice would prevail over such actions. He also emphasized the potential broader implications of allowing Wike’s tactics to succeed, suggesting that other governors could face similar challenges to their authority.
