Tragedy struck in Sapele, Delta State, as Pastor Greg Sagie, a Pentecostal pastor in his 60s, was brutally killed in his home by a suspected church member wielding a machete

The assailant barged into his residence on MTN Road, threatening the pastor’s two children, aged eight and 11, who managed to escape and raise an alarm.

According to eyewitnesses, the isolated area had few houses, and the horrifying incident unfolded when the children screamed for help, revealing the attacker’s presence. The assailant, described as a young man in his 20s, warned neighbors not to approach him, then jumped from the building and fled.

The terrified children identified the attacker as a member of their church and even provided information about his residence. Tragically, Pastor Sagie suffered severe head injuries and passed away on the way to the hospital.

The police promptly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area and launching an investigation. Although the motive behind the attack remains unclear, authorities are actively pursuing the suspect. They urge anyone with relevant information to contact the nearest police station.

Pastor Sagie was remembered by his congregation as a humble and dedicated man of God who preached peace and love.
