A horrifying incident unfolded in the Ago Palace Way of Okota, Lagos state, resulting in the loss of four lives, including a pregnant woman and her two children. According to eyewitness Tobe Steve, the tragedy occurred when a driver, who was being apprehended by the police, had one officer inside his car while others followed in pursuit. During the journey, at the Okota roundabout, a dispute arose between the policeman and the driver, leading to a dangerous contest for the steering wheel.
Tragically, this struggle for control caused the vehicle to veer off course, colliding with a tricycle (keke) that was carrying a woman, her two children, and the tricycle rider. All occupants of the tricycle lost their lives in the accident. Tobe Steve shared the devastating news on social media, expressing his condolences and highlighting the need for both law enforcement and citizens to act responsibly.
Witnesses at the scene lamented the police’s failure to effectively carry out their duties, leading to a situation where lives were put in jeopardy. The incident has sparked a public outcry, with many calling for accountability and justice for the victims. As the community mourns the loss of innocent lives, there is a collective call for improved safety measures and responsible behavior from both authorities and citizens to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
