Troops from the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army have carried out successful clearance operations across multiple locations in Kaduna State, resulting in the neutralization of a terrorist and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and equipment.
The operations, which took place in Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji areas, targeted notorious bandits responsible for terrorizing local communities. According to Lt. Colonel Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 1 Division, the troops engaged in these areas managed to neutralize a bandit during their efforts.
In addition to neutralizing the bandit, the troops seized a range of weapons and equipment. The recovered items include four AK-47 magazines, three of which were fully loaded with a total of 60 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, while the fourth magazine was empty. The soldiers also found a PKT belt containing 86 rounds of ammunition. Alongside these, they confiscated two motorcycles (one of which was destroyed during the operation), a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng handheld radio, and an Airtel recharge card valued at N5,000.
The operation resulted in several other bandits fleeing with gunshot wounds. Lt. Colonel Yahaya emphasized the significance of the public’s support in these operations. He urged residents of Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa states to continue their cooperation and to use the Division’s Toll-Free Line, ‘0800 002 0204,’ to provide any actionable intelligence that could assist in future operations.
Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 1 Division and Commander of the Operation, commended the troops for their successful execution of the mission. He encouraged them to maintain their momentum and intensify efforts to make life increasingly difficult for terrorists and their accomplices within the division’s area of responsibility.
