Vice President Kashim Shettima offered prayers for the lasting healing and unity of Nigeria and its people during the Eid celebrations. After observing the Eid prayers at the National Eid Ground in Abuja, Shettima expressed his hope for the nation’s well-being.
In a statement released by the State House Director of Information, Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola, Shettima called on Nigerians to embrace unity and progress. He also emphasized the importance of sacrifice and forgiveness, highlighting the essence of the season.
The Vice President noted that the sacred day provided an opportunity to reflect on the mercy of Allah, as exemplified through the blessings bestowed upon Prophet Abraham and his son, Prophet Isma’il. These timeless lessons serve as moral guidance for humanity, reminding individuals of the challenges they face on the path to redemption. By embracing these teachings, people can strive to be the best versions of themselves.
Shettima prayed for Allah to accept the prayers and sacrifices of the nation and to forgive any shortcomings. Following the prayers in Abuja, the Vice President traveled to his home state of Borno, where he was welcomed by Governor Babagana Zulum. Upon arrival, Shettima inspected a Guard of Honour at the Maiduguri Air Force Base and later paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Sl-Kanemi, at his palace.
The Vice President’s presence at the Eid prayers, along with other dignitaries such as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, demonstrated the significance of the occasion and the unity among the country’s leaders in celebrating the festive season.
