Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared that three former Galatasaray players played pivotal roles in his decision to join the Turkish club this summer. The Nigerian forward, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, highlighted the influences of Didier Drogba, Peter Etebo, and Henry Onyekuru as key factors in his move.
Despite interest from top clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli, Osimhen opted for Galatasaray, where he has quickly made a name for himself. Since his arrival, he has scored two goals and provided three assists, endearing himself to the club’s passionate fan base.
In a recent interview with the club’s YouTube channel, Osimhen expressed his long-standing admiration for players he idolized during his childhood, particularly singling out Drogba as a significant inspiration. He noted, “To be honest, there were a lot of players I idolized and followed since I was little. Drogba is one of them.”
Osimhen also reflected on the positive experiences of both Etebo and Onyekuru at Galatasaray, emphasizing the warm and welcoming atmosphere he encountered upon joining. “I knew the atmosphere was good; I saw it. I looked online, but what I saw in reality was much more magnificent. What I saw here was great,” he stated.
With his impressive start at Galatasaray, Osimhen continues to build on his reputation as one of Africa’s top football talents, showcasing his skills and dedication on the pitch while paying homage to the players who inspired him along the way.
