In a disturbing turn of events at Twon Brass jetty in the Brass local government area of Bayelsa, chaos broke out during the offloading of election materials for the upcoming off-cycle governorship election. Tensions escalated between supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over the designated storage location for the materials.
The disagreement spiraled into an attack, with the PDP Council Chairman sustaining a head injury. Allegedly, the assault was a result of a misunderstanding between APC and PDP supporters. In a twist of events, Isaiah, an APC supporter, denied involvement in the assault. Isaiah claimed to have intervened due to the disorderly conduct of the PDP Chairman, accusing him of intimidating APC supporters during the process.
“I was there actually to monitor the process of the materials offloading, but the PDP chairman kept making derogatory statements which unsettled some people, but I was able to calm the situation,” Isaiah stated, as reported by SaharaReporters.
Fortunately, normalcy was restored by military personnel who intervened in the situation. The Chairman of Brass Local Government Area, Alabo Hanson Karika, condemned the attack on the PDP Chairman, expressing strong disapproval of the violence that marred the election material offloading process.”
