- Urges President Buhari, AGF to wade into crisis
- Warns faction to resist temptations of causing more conflicts
- Obey the court order, stay clear off all ALGON activities- IMC tells Alabi
As the leadership tussle in the Association of Local Government of Nigeria continues to deepen, the Interim Management Committee has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Attorney General of the Federation and other security agencies to intervene and call to order the dissolved Alabi Kolade led faction.
The IMC in a statement signed by it PRO, Hon. Shonibare Jide on Sunday, revealed that it has gotten notification of clandestine and duplicitous plans made by Mr. Malik Itiako the acclaimed Chief of Staff to Alabi in collaboration with some security operatives especially the DPO of the Maitama Police Division to resume office on Monday, as leadership of the association even against an existing court restraining order.
The statement read “Our attention has been drawn to the clandestine plans made by the acclaimed Chief of Staff, Mr Malik Itiako who obviously is acting out the orders of his master, Hon. Alabi Kolade David, an imposter who has shamelessly recruited some operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, especially the DPO of the Maitama Police Division to aid his faction assume office on Monday 15th August, 2021 even against a court order.
“Sadly, we are shocked beyond words that the Nigerian Police force who should be gatekeepers of justice have sold their souls for few peanuts by taking sides with Alabi and his accomplices in the scheme of things to perpetrate injustice by constantly harassing and arresting members of the IMC and also planning to reinstate and assist them assume duties in the secretariat on Monday.
“We would want to let the general public note that should plans by the DPO who according to informations at our disposal, received some millions of naira, aid Alabi and co resume office tomorrow, their biased position will be chaotic and may cause a huge dent on the image of the association. Should the police be involved in such situation? Even if, should they who are supposed to fight for justice be on the side of a criminal, an imposter who has misled the association by introducing himself as chairman of one of the 774 recognised local government areas?
“The IMC faced with so many tribulations almost at the same time finally resumed office to carry out their function, but we just discovered that there is a compromise on the part of some security agencies, especially the police and DSS, even when there is an existing court order restraining them from interfering
“In view of the above assertion, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari who has a strong mandate to nip corruption in the bud, the Accountant General of the Federation, security agencies and Nigerians in general, to call Alabi Kolade and his bunch of miscreants to order, and also advise them to desist from further moves to cause chaos for the Interim Management Committee.” It added.
