Nigerians have reacted to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu’s statement on the establishment of the south-west security outfit, Amotekun.
In his message, Tinubu called for private discussion between the Governors of the South-west and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami, over Amotekun.
He had said the foundation of the country had not been put at risk with the South-west regional security outfit launched by the governors of the zone in a bit to confront the insecurity in their respective states.
On why it took him time to react to the establishment of Amotekun, the APC National Leader also revealed that he had deliberately took a studied silence.
However, Nigerians expressed divergent opinions to Tinubu’s remark on Amotekun. Here are the comments gathered by CSONews24 from their Twitter handles read below:
@wetriumphstill: “According to Tinubu, SW Govs are wrong, AG/FG is wrong. Southwest Governors are also right, same as AG/FG Amotekun should be stopped, Amotekun should continue. Politically smart apparently cos of 2023 but something don’t need political smartness. The only Friend of the Fulanis is the Fulanis.”
@alabiopeyemiola: “Tinubu, a lion who singlehandedly conquered every war he fought against the PDP government that nearly destroyed the developmental path of his region during his opposition days is the man some fools are calling a traitor. Wonderful!”
@lanrehussain: “Tinubu is way too balanced and mature. When you take a national position in issues you always have the right answer. We are Nigerians first before anything. This is the only we can created value for everybody.”
@henriettaansa: “I just knew Tinubu was going to target that presidential seat . We will continue to shuffle old baggages as presidents if we don’t change the narratives.”
@Theifedayo: “Tinubu is playing attack and defense in this Amotekun semi-final match……. attacking blocking 4….mo stan pa.”
@drdebodun: “This Asiwaju Tinubu’s response on #AMOTEKUN has shown him to be a Nationalist and Leader. I’m greatly pleased.”
@femifalola9: “To a large extent, if Tinubu publicly support Amotekun it will not gain public support, Buhari and some northern politician will ensure it doesn’t work out cos it will b tagged as a weapon for politics come 2023…TINUBU is smart to keep quiet about it.”
@JonesFayose: “You’re not exaggerating. This is Lagos politics and it can happen. Tinubu is an over-lord with far reaching tentacles, that keep the loyalists in line.”
@RealOlaudah: “Bola Tinubu says that Amotekun is a ‘delicate’ matter, & I wonder ‘delicate’ in what sense? For the victims of Fulani Herdsmen in the South West, or his own selfish aspiration vis a vis his relationship with his political bosses in Abuja? Nigerian politicians are something else.”
