Chief Kefas Ropshik, a former governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau state, has secured the release of 14 inmates from the Jos Division of the Correctional Service Centre.
Folarunsho Mark the deputy comptroller, representing the head of Jos Correctional Service Centre, said the beneficiaries were in custody for cases of theft, conspiracies and breach of trust.
Among them is Gabriel Orukpo who was sentenced to two years imprisonment for the destruction of a billboard of the PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar mounted at the Zarmaganda area of Jos-Bukuru metroplolis, also a nursing mother Patience Pam who regained her freedom after payment of N1.4million by Mr. Ropshik.
Ropshik paid for about 14 inmates were discharged. He cautioned them not to allow themselves to be used henceforth for negative activities and promised to empower them with starter packs in their different fields of choice so as to become self-employed and also contribute their quota to the economy.
Mark described the intervention as extraordinary, “is a normal thing that has been happening but this is extraordinary, we have a former governorship aspirant in Plateau State under PDP”.
