The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance and Restore Nigeria Integrity Initiative, a coalition of civil society organisations in Nigeria, had on Thursday, commended the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Mashall Isiaka Oladayo Amao on the strategic reorganisation of the Air Force which is key to Nigeria quest in ending the war against insurgency, while calling for core professionalism.
The leadership of the group, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic who expressed joy and happiness at the innovative and strategic leadership of the Air Force Boss, a field officer and former Air Component Commander of the operation against the insurgency tagged: Zaman Lafiya Dole in the North East, acknowledged that more air power were promptly deployed on the field in supporting land forces while sustaining the current victories against the insurgents. Ogakwu in a media interaction with newsmen in Abuja, revealed that the commendation is coming on the heels of an independent field assessment carried out by the group on the impact of the Air Force to the ongoing war against insurgency.
Reiterating the importance of professionalism, intelligence gathering and sharing among armed forces and paramilitary forces to nip in the bud bandits, insurgents before they reach their intended targets to carry out havoc, the group also commending the effort of the force especially in the recent delivery of the Tucano Jets, however urged Amao never to rest on his oars, but rather be committed, dedicated to the mandate of the force which is winning the war against insurgency in the country.
Ogakwu also advised that more air power be effectively deployed in supporting land forces while putting to maximum use the Tucano Jets by the Air Force in conducting raids on the insurgents bases with precision strikes on targets with a view to dislodging completely and neutralising the activities of the insurgents on the grounds.
“The morale of Nigerian troops and confidence must be bolstered at all times to increase efficiency of performance and enhance delivery of positive results by ensuring that troops are motivated and encourage”. he added.
