In a show of support for the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, friends and well-wishers have collectively raised approximately N1 billion to bolster his re-election campaign slated for next month. The generous contributions were made during an event held on Thursday night at the Landmark Event Centre in Owerri.
Prominent donors who made substantial contributions on their behalf, their families, and their respective companies included Dr. Johnbosco Ozigbo, Sir Bennett Nwokejiobi, Chief Tony Chukwu, Prince Charles Amadi, Eze Imo, HRM EC Okeke, among others.
Uzodinma’s friends expressed their motivation to financially support his bid, driven by their desire to be a part of the governor’s historical legacy, which stems from his exemplary leadership qualities.
Governor Uzodinma, in his response, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I feel humbled by the quantum of encomiums this night and more importantly, the quantum of money raised this night. I feel very challenged by the commendations tonight, and I think it will provoke a new appetite in me to do more for our state.”
Addressing the gathering, Sen. Osita Izunaso, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the event, emphasized that the governor’s friends were convinced that he had performed admirably and deserved a second term, hence the occasion.
Additionally, the event’s Chairman, former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (retd), expressed his gratitude to the organizer and all of the governor’s friends. He stressed that they were not supporting the governor merely as an individual but were endorsing his commendable achievements in Imo State.
