The International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE), a global institution committed to addressing threats to the information landscape, has appointed Dr. John Momoh, Chairman of Channels Media Group, as a new board member.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Switzerland-based organization praised Dr. Momoh for his extensive experience in the media industry, stating that he brings valuable expertise to the mission of combating misinformation and pollution in today’s information environment.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the appointment, Dr. Momoh emphasized the importance of collective action and evidence-based approaches in tackling the challenges facing the global information landscape. He expressed confidence in the board’s ability to pave the way for clarity and truth amidst ongoing challenges.
Prof. Phil Howard, Co-Founder and CEO of IPIE, welcomed Dr. Momoh to the board, highlighting his deep understanding of media landscapes in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond. He underscored Dr. Momoh’s advocacy for research contributions from underrepresented regions like Africa, demonstrating IPIE’s commitment to global impact.
The IPIE, an independent organization comprising nearly 300 scientists from 60 countries, is dedicated to offering actionable scientific knowledge on information threats. With a focus on diversity and credibility, the panel aims to empower policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society with insights to enhance the global information environment.
