Oludayo Ojerinde, a Nigerian artificial intelligence specialist, has unveiled a health-focused chatbot with the aim of transforming healthcare accessibility and addressing healthcare needs in Nigeria. The chatbot, presented in Lagos over the weekend, is designed to address challenges in the healthcare sector, including lengthy hospital waiting times and the need for more information on various medical conditions.
Ojerinde stressed that the AI tool is meant to complement traditional hospital services by providing second opinions and a wealth of information. The ‘You and Your Health’ Chatbot is particularly significant given the imperfections in the nation’s health system, such as citizens bearing out-of-pocket expenses and enduring extended waits at hospitals.
The chatbot’s key features include engaging users in personalized conversations about their health concerns, utilizing advanced natural language processing for a tailored experience. Ojerinde highlighted that the consultation service provided by the chatbot is entirely free, distinguishing it from subscription-based models common in the industry.
Emphasizing the inclusivity of the platform, Ojerinde encouraged users to bring any health-related questions for a human-like conversation and solution. The chatbot operates 24/7, offering users unprecedented accessibility to seek guidance and information at any time, breaking down barriers to health-related support.
The seamless integration of the chatbot with health data was also emphasized, allowing users to track and manage their health information within the conversation. This holistic approach aims to promote overall well-being, representing a significant advancement in leveraging technology to enhance healthcare experiences.
