The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on Wednesday, said that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is not fit to head the bank.
He said the CBN governor should be kicked from office when he showed interest in contesting for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akeredolu who addressed members of the Youth Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, of the APC led by Seyi Tinubu, revealed that the rating of the APC has significantly dropped with the naira and fuel shortages in the country.
The governor added that the failed bid of Emefiele to contest in the presidential primaries, he would do anything to ensure disruption at the polls. He appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to direct Emefiele to reverse the new naira policy, adding that the new and old notes should be allowed to co-exist.
“We are facing a problem in this country today. Our rating as a party is not that favourable. Let’s not deceive ourselves. Must it be now that we will have this financial policy?, He noted that despite an existing court injunction, the old notes have ceased to be legal tender in the country.
“Okada, taxis, banks are not taking old notes again. There is an injunction, and everyone is behaving like there is no injunction.”
Seyi Tinubu, son of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, appreciated Akeredolu for his commitment to youth development and inclusion in the state.
