In a sudden move, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its withdrawal from the Peace Accord scheduled for signing just two hours before the ceremony. This decision comes ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
The APC’s withdrawal follows a statement made by Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had earlier indicated that his party might also refrain from signing the accord. Governor Obaseki cited a lack of confidence in the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as reasons for their potential non-participation.
