The Labour Party Forum for Justice, Equity, and Fairness has proposed Barr. Ken Imasuangbon as the gubernatorial candidate for the Edo state election, with Olumide Akpata as his deputy. In a statement issued by Dr. Ben Osage, the group emphasized the importance of equity and fairness within the party.
Highlighting the upcoming September 21, 2024, Edo State Governorship Election, the group expressed confidence in the Labour Party’s prospects for victory. They stressed the party’s commitment to justice and fairness, suggesting that a candidate from Edo Central should be chosen to maintain balance in regional representation.
The group criticized the potential threat to the party’s success if a candidate from Edo South were to emerge, considering that the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki, is from the same region. They argued for inclusiveness, power rotation, and consensus-building to drive development and progress in the state.
Drawing parallels with other political parties, the group pointed out how both the PDP and APC have prioritized equity and fairness in candidate selection, particularly by choosing candidates from Edo Central. They urged Barr. Ken Imasuangbon to contest the election to ensure the party’s viability, suggesting that Olumide Akpata run as his deputy.
In closing, the group reiterated its commitment to securing victory for the Labour Party in the Edo State election and urged support for the proposed Imasuangbon/Akpata ticket as the pathway to success.
