The Lagos State Police Command has successfully apprehended three individuals suspected of kidnapping, following an operation in the Isashi area. The police managed to rescue a male victim who had been abducted earlier in the day.
The victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, was kidnapped on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in the Oke-Moro area of Isashi. The rescue operation began after the Isashi Police division received an urgent distress call around noon from a concerned citizen about the abduction.
According to SP Benjamin Hudenyin, the police spokesman, a team led by the Divisional Police Officer promptly responded to the call and arrived at the scene. They successfully freed the 25-year-old victim, who had been subjected to physical abuse by the kidnappers.
The suspects have been identified as Edem Chucks, 24; Oluwatobi Adeniji, 23; and Emmanuel Ebere. Initial investigations revealed that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦2 million from the victim’s family, which was paid through two different bank accounts. Additionally, the suspects accessed ₦1 million from the victim’s bank account via mobile transfer.
The victim was also stripped of his three Nigerian international passports and other valuable belongings. The police are continuing their investigation and are working to apprehend additional suspects who remain at large.
