The Super Eagles B team has kicked off the second phase of their preparations for the upcoming two-legged Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana. The first leg will be held between December 20th and 22nd, with the return leg scheduled for the following week. These matches are critical as the aggregate winner will secure a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament, jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
After completing the initial training phase, the team resumed on Tuesday, with 26 players reporting to camp. Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a 32-man squad for the next training phase, including new additions like goalkeeper Kayode Bankole from Remo Stars, Suur Kumaga from Lobi Stars, and rising talent Dominion Ohaka from Under-23 and Water FC. Experienced players like Bernard Ovoke and Aniekeme Okon from Rivers United also make the roster.
With Eguavoen fulfilling an assignment abroad, assistant coaches Fidelis Ikechukwu and Daniel Amokachi will oversee the team’s preparations. The team’s rigorous training will ensure they are fully prepared for the decisive matches that could lead them to continental glory.
