In a distressing incident on Friday, November 31, a woman was discovered lifeless in a Lagos hotel room, while her male companion has mysteriously disappeared. The couple had checked into the hotel earlier that day, having paid for a short stay.
The unsettling revelation unfolded when hotel staff attempted to reassign the room to another guest and found it locked. After using a spare key to gain access, they found the woman motionless on the bed, unclothed and covered with a bedspread. Her belongings, including clothes and phone, were reportedly missing.
According to an anonymous community resident who spoke with Punch, the guests arrived in the morning, and it wasn’t until around 10 pm that the hotel staff realized the room was locked. Despite attempts to locate the male guest, their efforts proved futile as no records were taken during their check-in, and the hotel lacked CCTV surveillance.
The hotel owner was promptly informed, and a search ensued, involving both staff and community members. The incident was reported to the police, with the director of the hotel taking the matter to the authorities on the same night.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the tragic occurrence, stating that the deceased woman’s body has been deposited in the morgue. Both the hotel owner and the receptionist have been arrested, and the case is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
